- Why is Tri-State launching a raffle game?
- Many players have asked for a raffle game and lottery tickets are very popular around the holidays. What better way to celebrate the New Year than with a $1 million cash prize.
- When do raffle tickets go on sale?
- The $20 Tri-State New Year Millionaire Raffle tickets will go on sale November 1, 2007 at all Maine Lottery retail locations that sell Megabucks and Powerball. In Maine, 80,000 raffle tickets will be sold. They are scheduled to be on sale from November 1, 2007 until December 31, 2007. There will be no more tickets available if they sell out before December 31st. Quantities are limited, so get your lucky ticket soon!
- What kind of a game is the raffle, and how do I buy a ticket?
- The New Year Millionaire Raffle is a draw game, meaning the winning numbers are drawn on a designated day and time by a computerized drawing. Simply ask a lottery retailer for a Tri-State Raffle ticket. On each raffle ticket, there will be a randomly printed unique 6-digit number. Each raffle ticket sold in Maine will be clearly marked with a six digit number between 100001 and 180000. If you want more than one number, you will have to purchase addition tickets. No two tickets will have the same raffle number.
- How many raffle tickets will be sold?
- There are a total of 200,000 raffle tickets available in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont but there will be only 80,000 tickets available in Maine. Players shouldn't wait to purchase one. Once they're sold out, they're gone for good!
- How much money is up for grabs, and how many people are going to win?
- From the total 200,000 raffle tickets sold - 80,000 tickets will be available in Maine, 80,000 tickets will be available in New Hampshire and 40,000 tickets will be available in Vermont, one winning raffle ticket will be worth $1 million in cash. In addition, from the 80,000 tickets purchased in Maine, there will be 1 (one) $250,000 winner, 20 (twenty) $1000 winners, and 320 (three hundred twenty) $250 winners!
- What are the odds of winning?
- Odds of winning the top prize of $1 million are 1:200,000. Overall odds of winning a prize in this raffle game are 1:234.
- How much do the raffle tickets cost, and where can I buy one?
- Each raffle ticket may be purchased for $20 at Maine Lottery retailer that sells Megabucks and Powerball.
- When will the drawing take place to select the winning raffle numbers?
- The drawing to select the $1 million prize and all other prizes will take place on Friday, January 4, 2008.
- How can I find out if my raffle ticket has won a prize?
- After the drawing has occurred, a message will be sent to all Lottery agents announcing the winning numbers and place of purchase for the $1 million and $250,000 prizes. On Saturday, January, 5, 2008 the winning numbers for all of the prize levels will be posted on the Maine Lottery website at www.mainelottery.com. Also, on Saturday, Lottery agents will be able to determine winning tickets by processing them through their Lottery terminal.
- My lucky number is 11. Can I choose to buy raffle ticket containing the number 11?
- Unfortunately, no. Since only one person can have any given numbered raffle ticket, it is not possible for players to select their own numbers for this game. Only Easy Pick numbers will be printed for this game.
- How many raffle tickets can I buy?
- As with any other Maine State Lottery game, each player may purchase as many raffle tickets as he/she chooses. However, we encourage customers to please play responsibly.
- What do I do if I have a winning raffle ticket?
- Winning raffle tickets may be claimed the day following the drawing on January 5, 2008. Maine Lottery retailers may cash your prize of $250. If you have won a prize of $1,000, $250,000 or the $1 million prize, you must claim your prize at lottery headquarters at 10 Water Street in Hallowell, Maine (Open Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM). Players can also mail the winning ticket with a complete claim form to: Maine State Lottery, 8 State House Station, Augusta, ME 04333. Claim forms are available at agent locations and can be downloaded from our website at www.mainelottery.com. Raffle ticket winners are advised to:
- Sign the back of your raffle ticket;
- Keep it in a cool, safe, dry place.
- Do I have to be 18 to play?
- Yes, as with all Maine Lottery games, you must be 18 or older to play the raffle game.
